How to Apply

Staff looking at xrayThe University of Cincinnati Department of Orthopaedic Surgery exclusively utilizes the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for the residency application process. Please note that paper applications received outside of ERAS will not be accepted.

If you are interested in applying to our program, please contact your medical school for your ERAS information. If you are an international medical graduate, please contact your local Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) office for more information on ERAS.

Early applications are encouraged. A preliminary review of each application will be made upon receipt. A dean's letter is not required for initial review. Applications should consist of all ERAS materials including three letters of recommendation (four letters is acceptable), CV, medical school transcripts, and documentation of national USMLE, Board or FLEX scores.

Deadline for Application

The deadline for receipt for all materials except the Dean's Letter is October 15. Files that are not complete by this deadline will not be considered.

Application Process

After thorough review of the applications, competitive applicants will be extended an interview. Interviews will be done in-person this year.

A reception for the applicants and residents (no faculty will be present) will be held on the evening prior to your interview day. This get together is informal and a great opportunity for you to learn more about our program, the city, and a chance to talk to our residents.

After thorough review of the applications, competitive applicants will be extended an interview on Monday, November 18 during the Universal Interview Offer Day.

Interviews will be held on the following dates for 2024-25:

  • Wednesday, December 18, 2024
  • Wednesday, January 15, 2025
