How to Apply
The UC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery exclusively utilizes the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for the residency application process. Please note that paper applications received outside of ERAS will not be accepted.
If you are interested in applying to our program, please contact your medical school for your ERAS information. If you are an international medical graduate, please contact your local Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) office for more information on ERAS.
Early applications are encouraged. A preliminary review of each application will be made upon receipt. A dean's letter is not required for initial review. Applications should consist of all ERAS materials including three letters of recommendation (four letters is acceptable), CV, medical school transcripts, and documentation of national USMLE, Board or FLEX scores.
Deadlines for Application
The deadline for receipt of all materials except the Dean's Letter is October 21. Files that are not complete by this deadline will not be considered.
Application Process
After thorough review of the applications, competitive applicants will be extended an interview. Interviews will be held in December and January virtually using Zoom.
A virtual open house for the applicants, residents, spouses and significant others (no faculty will be present) will be held on an evening prior to your interview day. This get together is informal and a great opportunity for you to learn more about our program, the city, and a chance to talk to our residents.
