Admissions to the Medical Sciences Major

We are committed to attracting excellent students from across the nation and the world to come together on campus to form a community of scholars. Because we keep cohorts small in size for a more supportive and in-depth experience, admission to the program is quite selective. Understanding that the college admissions journey is often both exciting and somewhat taxing, we strive to maintain personal contact students and families throughout the process.

High School Students

Admission to Medical Sciences is competitive.

  • Average ACT composite score of 29 or higher*
  • Average SAT composite score of 1360 or higher (critical reading and math combined)*
  • High school GPA of at least 3.5 (unweighted) or 3.7 (weighted)*
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities

*Meeting the above academic standards does not guarantee admission.  Also, please note, we are test optional at this time.

With the above in mind, we pay very close attention to co-curricular activities as well as the personal statement and essay that is submitted as part of the application for admission to the University of Cincinnati. Applications are reviewed holistically keeping all of these aspects in mind.

Students seeking freshman admission to Medical Sciences should apply via the Admissions website. The deadline to apply for the Medical Sciences major is December 1.

Financial Aid

Students who have a complete application by December 1st will automatically be considered for scholarships. There is no separate application for scholarships. Financial aid to each student is reviewed annually and renewed based on satisfactory progress. For more information, visit UC's Student Financial Aid website.

Visiting Campus

Visits to campus are coordinated through the University of Cincinnati's Undergraduate Admissions office. Unfortunately, due to limited resources, Medical Sciences is not currently offering individual tours, meetings, or shadowing opportunities to prospective or admitted students. Undergraduate Admissions hosts a number of events throughout the year where families can tour main campus, learn about UC, and hear a presentation from Medical Sciences staff and students. More information about visiting campus.
