Medical Sciences Summer Institute

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine offers a summer workshop for high school rising sophomores and juniors who are interested in careers in medicine, or other related healthcare fields, and who wish to gain experience in biomedical research in a state-of-the-art laboratory.

The Medical Sciences Summer Institute will run four individual week-long (full-day) sessions in 2025. 

Session Options:

  • Session 1: June 2-6, 2025 Molecular
  • Session 2: June 9-13, 2025 Molecular
  • Session 3: June 16-20, 2025 Cellular
  • Session 4: June 23-27, 2025 Cellular

Upon applying, students will rank their preference for the week they hope to attend. 

  • The program will run from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM each weekday.
  • The cost of the program is $1000.

2025 MSSI Application

The application requires the following:

  • 1-page synopsis of your academic history and leadership/extracurriculars (like a resume)
  • 1-page personal statement addressing:
    1. why you feel this program will benefit you and
    2. any background/prior related experience that would make you a good fit for this program.

Previous research experience is not a requirement.

The application will also require:
  • Your current high school GPA
  • Date of birth
  • Name of high school
  • Class graduation year (i.e. 2026 for current juniors and 2027 for current sophomores). All applicants must be 16 years old at the time of the session.
  • Selection of preferred track and session

Application deadline is Wednesday, March 26, 2025 @ 11:59 PM EST.
