Postdoc Travel Award Program

Background and Purpose

The College of Medicine Office of Research (CoM OoR) appreciates the vital role postdocs play in our research community. CoM OoR has hosted a few open forums to understand how the college can better support the needs of postdocs. From these discussions, it became evident that postdocs could benefit from travel/conference funding. The College of Medicine Office of Research is fortunate to have resources to support a Postdoc Travel Award Program in FY 2025.

The Postdoc Travel Award Program supports travel related to postdoc career development opportunities such as meetings, conferences, courses, and/or workshops.  The Postdoc Travel Award Program has a total of $5,000 available to disseminate. Awards up to $500 will be given to recipients. CoM OoR hopes to fund approximately 10 postdocs this fiscal year.

Eligibility

  • Must be a current postdoc at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Postdocs at other colleges or at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center are not eligible to apply.
  • PI must be notified that the postdoc is applying for funding and provide a statement ensuring that the remaining balance of the travel expenses will be covered.

Rolling Deadline

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. However:

  • Applications are currently being accepted for career development opportunities that take place from September 2024 through January 2025.
  • Those applying for career development opportunities from February 2025 to June 2025 should wait until January 2024 to apply.

The CoM OoR has budgeted $2,500 for each half of the fiscal year.
