Powered by the Cincinnati Public Library - Clifton Branch and the Osher Center for Integrative Health at the University of Cincinnati, we’re excited to announce our new walking club every Monday!
It turns out, walking outside is good for you. And lucky for us, Burnet Woods is just across the street! Join us once a week for a walk on a paved path through Burnet Woods. Together, we’ll take in beautiful views and fresh air!
The first Monday of each month, experts from the Osher Center for Integrative Health at the University of Cincinnati will lead a special Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) experience during our walk. A practice originating in Japan, shinrin (“forest”) yoku (“bath”) means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses. It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Barbara Walker, PhD, and Kelly Lyle, MHA, MS, from the Osher Center are certified INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guides and will teach you skills to enhance your experience & well-being, including stronger immune system, lower blood pressure, decreased cortisol levels, improved mood, better sleep, and increase vigor, focus, & energy.
