The Biospecimen Shared Resource coordinates and manages the biospecimen pipeline to support Cancer Center research programs. Through coordination with the Clinical Trials Office, a streamlined process was developed for consent, collection, processing, rapid delivery of fresh or processed tissue, data collection, and storage through a prioritization workflow.
Currently located in 2,000 square feet of space in the Medical Sciences Building (MSB) Suite 1252, the Biorepository space includes a combination of freezer and wet lab space for sample preparation and storage. To further harmonize and integrate biospecimen processing, there is additional dedicated space near the Biospecimen laboratory that is being prepared to co-locate CTO staff dedicated to clinical trial biospecimen processing. Additional space on the 4000 level of MSB to accommodate five new freezers is currently being prepared for use.
