Sep 21-25, 2026 – Sponsored annually by the National Postdoctoral Association, National Postdoc Appreciation Week honors the vital research, innovation, and contributions that postdoctoral scholars bring to discovery in the United States and globally.
Sep 2026 – The work of Dr. Ningjing Song (Gao lab) and colleagues, “Stress-induced RNA decay in cardiac hypertrophy”, has been accepted for presentation as a Late-Breaking Basic Science abstract at the upcoming American Heart Association Scientific Sessions. The Late-Breaking Science Program is a highly competitive component of these sessions.
Sep 2026 – Congratulations to PhD candidate Kelly Bosis (Wohleb lab), whom the UC Graduate Student Government has selected for a 2025-26 Research Fellowship Award! Kelly studies in the Neuroscience Graduate Program.
Sep 2026 – In Pharmacogenetics and Genomics, recent PPN PhD graduate Felicia Gooden is the first author on a report that Genetic variation in SLCO1B1 is associated with methotrexate intolerance symptoms in juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients.
Sep 2026 – Congratulations to Dr. Chella Krishnan, who has received a Research Award from the Lipedema Foundation to advance understanding of lipedema, a chronic and often painful fat disorder that affects primarily women and remains poorly understood.
Sep 2026 – Congratulations to Dr. Lauren Vollmer on her fifth anniversary as a Research Scientist in Dr. Eric Wohleb's group. Lauren received her PhD in the UC Neuroscience Graduate Program.
Sep 2026 – In "Drug Metabolism and Disposition", PhD candidate Griffin Shaffer (Prasad lab) is the first author on a report on Proteomic characterization of human kinases across tissue types: Implications for kinase-activated drugs.
Sep 2026 – PhD candidates Alex Kuhn and Kelly Bosis co-1st-author the latest "eNeuro" publication from the Wohleb lab: Neuronal Ddit4 overexpression in the medial prefrontal cortex reduces synaptic density and impairs cognitive function in mice. Alex wrote on Linked In, "We started on this project together three years ago when we first joined the Wohleb lab. We thought it'd be fun to take a picture with the published paper..." (left) " in the same spot we posed with our very first poster on the project..." (right) "Despite the stress of grad school, our smiles have remained ever-present. It helps to have a fantastic teammate."
