Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, in association with the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, offer two one-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited positions in our Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program.

The Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship prepares the candidate for Added Qualifications in Geriatric Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Geriatric Psychiatry Fellows train in the nationally recognized Cincinnati VA Medical Center, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and the Alois Alzheimer Center.

As part of training, Fellows have the chance to intermingle with Geriatric Medicine Fellows and Categorical Psychiatry Residents, which provides them with an opportunity to share their clinical and didactic experience. Geriatric Psychiatry Fellows also have the opportunity to supervise Categorical Psychiatry Residents and Medical Students during their clinical rotations.

Multidisciplinary team-based clinical learning is interwoven with Geriatric Psychiatry Seminars, Clinical Case Conferences, and Journal Clubs. The Fellows attend weekly Grand Rounds, participate in live patient board-style examinations, and the development of a scholarly project. Competency-based learning is guided by clearly outlined goals and objectives.

Highly competitive salary and benefits are available, including the opportunity to earn extra income. Graduates of the Fellowship are routinely pursued for clinical, administrative, and research roles.
