The Addiction Sciences Division of UC and the Cincinnati VA Medical Center offer two openings annually for our addiction psychiatry fellowship training program.
Our fellowship is ACGME-accredited and prepares the candidate for added qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
The fellowship experience is divided equally between rotations in a nationally recognized VA and UC Health Addiction Sciences. Rotations include sites specifically for treatment of substance use disorders in pregnancy and adolescents. Formal addiction-specific psychotherapy training is provided.
The fellowship faculty is comprised of addiction specialists from multiple disciplines, dedicated to quality patient care, teaching and scholarly activity.
Research opportunities exist with multiple faculty, including those from the National Institute on Drug Abuse Ohio Valley Clinical Trials Network. Cincinnati serves as headquarters for this network spanning roughly 10 states. Active research protocols include both behavioral and pharmacotherapy research trials with extremely high recruitment rates.
Competitive salary and benefits are available, including the opportunity to earn extra income. Robust post-fellowship employment opportunities exist within the Greater Cincinnati area.
The Tri-state area offers a diverse culture; superb shopping, dining, and entertainment; affordable housing; several spectator sports along with numerous opportunities for the weekend athlete; an NIH top 3 children's hospital; and one of the best selections of public schools in the nation - all within hours of the Great Lakes and Appalachian Mountains for weekend getaways.
