Nieman elected to UC Staff Senate

Jul 2024 – Research Associate Michelle Nieman (Lorenz lab) was elected to the University's Staff Senate, which advises the University's leadership.

PhD candidate presents review in "Physiology (Bethesda)"

Jul 2024 – Jean-Pierre Amoakon (Naren lab) has reviewed Pulmonary vascular dysfunctions in cystic fibrosis.

Jul 1, 2024 – Christopher Parker (Zhang lab) successfully defended his doctoral dissertation "Mathematical investigations of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis in major depressive disorder".

Dr. Herman's group publishes in "Stress"

Jul 2024 – The group reports that Inhibition of prefrontal cortex parvalbumin interneurons mitigates behavioral and physiological sequelae of chronic stress in male mice.

Jul 2024 – Dr. Mia received a Career Development Award from the American Heart Association to study "The role of KLF5-GLUT1 axis in diabetic cardiac and skeletal myopathy".

Jul 2024 – The American Heart Association honored Dr. Gao with a Transformational Project Award to study "Non-canonical function of EPRS in adrenal-heart crosstalk".

Jul 18, 2024 – Jean-Pierre Amoakon (Naren lab) received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Systems Biology and Physiology for his work "Mechanism of loss of small pulmonary blood vessels in cystic fibrosis".

Jul 25, 2024 – Kyle Harbour (Baccei lab) successfully defended his doctoral dissertation "Effects of stress on developing nociceptive circuits”.

Dr. Perez-Tilve and others review for "Cell"

Jul 2024 – The group has provided a review of Transforming obesity: The advancement of multi-receptor drugs.

Dr. Gao publishes in "Circulation Research"

Jul 2024 – She was the first author on a collaborative study of Glucagon receptor antagonist for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
