At the VAMC, animal studies are performed in the Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU) which has >7000 sq. ft. of space to perform BSL-1 and BSL-2 research. The VMU is AAALAC approved, staffed with full veterinary and technical support and provides education
and training to all investigators. All animal rooms are fully equipped with the appropriate PPE to limit biohazard exposure.
