Clinical Activities

Geriatric Medicine Program faculty are involved in clinical services established especially for older persons. These services include:

Geriatric Evaluation Center at Maple Knoll Village

Our clinical faculty and residents provide care and conduct training at the Geriatric Evaluation Center at Maple Knoll Village in Springdale, OH. The Geriatric Evaluation Center helps people, aged 65 and older, find solutions, whether it's sorting an older adult’s complex medical problems, providing advice on coping with memory loss or helping a family make decisions about living arrangements. Our center keeps the patient’s personal physician informed of its findings and recommendations.

Clinical Activities at The Christ Hospital

Faculty from the Geriatric Medicine Program at UC collaborate with physicians at The Christ Hospital and provide care to patients at the Center for Health and Aging as well as The Christ Hospital's Palliative Care services. The Christ Hospital also serves as the clinical home of UC's Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program.

Long-term Care Teaching Practice

Maple Knoll Village, a non-profit, continuing care retirement community in Springdale, Ohio, is a major teaching site for geriatrics training for UC medical students, residents, and fellows. Residents and faculty provide ongoing care to residents of Maple Knoll. Additional geriatric teaching practices take place at Marjorie P. Lee/Deupree retirement communities in Hyde Park/Oakley, and through UC Health and UC Physicians at numerous long-term care facilities throughout Cincinnati.
