Academic Overview

In 2012 the specialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) was recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties as a unique medical specialty. The collaboration between the American Board of Urology and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology resulted in the first accreditation of FPMRS physicians in 2013.

At the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, we offer a range of educational opportunities. Medical students enjoy observing Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) procedures and caring for patients in the FPMRS clinic.  We welcome medical students who are interested in a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and possibly FPMRS, to join us for a month-long acting internship.

The gynecology service residents are present in our operating rooms at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and West Chester Hospital and our clinic at the UC Health Center For Women’s Health.
