Director's Welcome

Welcome to the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute! The UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute, a collaboration between the UC College of Medicine and UC Health, is comprised of 13 centers and 2 programs of excellence designed to improve the lives of patients with neurologic and psychiatric diseases. Our goal is to be the best neuroscience institute and to be the one by which all others are measured. We are continuously researching and looking for new treatments and approaches for our patients and for ways to transform the patient experience.

The Institute was established in 1998 with five centers and has grown tremendously since its inception, due in large part to the generosity of our community supporters, led by the Gardner Family. In 2018, their contributions directly led to a state-of-the-art Neuroscience Institute facility designed specifically to be a home for patients with neurologic disease and their families. This unique facility tells stories about neuroscience, Greater Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati while providing the framework for great patient care, groundbreaking research and education. Since its opening, it has received 14 local, regional, state, national and international awards for health-care design.

But what truly makes us great are the people who make up our UCGNI team. This includes more than 125 faculty physicians who provide exceptional care and lead more than 70 ongoing clinical trials as well as many NIH-funded research studies, more than 25 laboratory research faculty working in state-of-art laboratories, our colleagues-in-training as medical students, residents, and subspecialty fellows, and our health care colleagues and researchers in nursing, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, and our administrative team, among many others.
