Overview

The Systems Biology and Physiology Graduate Program has established five specific Areas of Excellence: Biocomplexity, Dynamic Function, Intravital Imaging, Model Systems, and Translational Physiology. Each Area of Excellence consists of multidisciplinary groups of faculty and students with sufficient intellectual and physical resources to create a unique environment for accelerating research progress in a particular discipline. The faculty members within an Area of Excellence have complementary backgrounds, work in collaborative fashion, and utilize shared facilities and equipment. All of this maximizes our institutional research capacity in that focus area. h3

Student participation in an Area of Excellence allows interactions with each of several research groups specializing in the selected research area. The result will be an in-depth exposure to that area of study under the guidance of multiple experts, each with an individual perspective.
