2023-2024 Admission Dates

Eligibility

• Eligible applicants will be United States citizens or permanent residents (with a permanent residency visa). 
• Eligible applicants must meet the University of Cincinnati medical student application requirements.
• Candidates must apply to the University of Cincinnati MSTP through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) and subsequently complete the MSTP Secondary Application**. Applicants will have the opportunity to apply to the MD/PhD program ONLY or both the MD/PhD program & MD program when completing the UCCOM Secondary Application.

Fees

• There is no secondary application fee for applicants who apply to the MD/PhD program ONLY.
• For applicants applying to BOTH the MD/PhD and MD programs, an application fee is charged unless you are eligible for the FAP through AAMC. If you were not approved for the AAMC FAP, you may still request to have your UCCOM Secondary Application fee waived. To request a fee waiver, email MDAdmissions@uc.edu. 

Letters of Recommendation

• The MD/PhD program requires a minimum of one (1) packet from your pre-professional committee or three (3) letters from individuals who can properly evaluate you.
• At least one (1) letter should come from an individual(s) who served as a research mentor or advisory capacity in research.
• A maximum of 5 letters may be sent.

Fellowship Opportunities

There are two special fellowships for which applicants can be considered.  Interested applicants should apply after they are accepted to the MSTP.

1. Jeffrey A. Whitsett Physician-Scientist Training Fellowship: This outstanding applicant with a declared interest in pediatrics and pediatric research will perform his/her PhD training in the Molecular & Developmental Biology Graduate Program.  Applicants must apply to be considered for this fellowship: Whitsett Fellowship Application
2. Albert B. Sabin Physician-Scientist Training Fellowship: This unique fellowship is awarded by the Immunology Graduate Program to a MSTP applicant with a demonstrated strong interest and commitment to research in immunology or related areas. Transfer Applicants

From MD:
Current M1 & M2 students at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine are eligible to apply to join the Cincinnati MSTP. This is an internal application process. Interested M2s should email mstp@uc.edu to request an application. Transfer applications will be accepted July 1st - November 15th. Please note that internal applicants will be placed in the same pool as applicants not currently enrolled in the UC College of Medicine.
