The Industrial Hygiene Safety Certificate allows Safety Directors, Industrial Hygiene Technicians, and Other Occupational Health Professionals to enhance their education in the practice of Industrial Hygiene. The coursework in this certificate program will assist you in developing strategies to sample occupational environments and to interpret the data relative to OSHA standards with the goal of preventing occupational illnesses in your workplace. Additionally, the program also addresses general occupational health factors and ergonomic stressors. The University of Cincinnati only accepts one certificate issued by an OTIEC from outside of the Great Lakes OSHA Education Center network. The course work for this program will satisfy the elective requirements for the Department of Labor’s Safety & Health Fundamentals Certificate Program for both Construction and General Industry. Department of Labor’s Certificate Program
This certificate program is available to anyone interested in furthering their practical knowledge while earning a nationally recognized safety and health credential. If you have completed OTI courses in the past, chances are you are well on your way to completing OSHA’s Safety and Health Fundamentals Certificate Program (DOL certificate). This certificate program is supported by the Department of Labor, and its curriculum consists entirely of OTI courses. Non-OTI courses are not accepted.
The certificate program is separated into three tracks: Construction, General Industry, and Maritime Industry. To be awarded a certificate, students must successfully complete a minimum of 68 (Construction and General Industry) or 77 (Maritime) contact hours. OSHA courses from other authorized education centers are accepted into this program.
