This series “Ethics in Occupational Safety and Health Professions” features several modules focusing on ethics in different OSH industries. The series was created by the University of Cincinnati, Education and Research Center (ERC), Continuing Education Program. Faculty from the UC ERC contributed to each module and served as content experts. The University of Cincinnati Education and Research Center is supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Grant # T42-OH008432.

Ethical Dilemmas in Industrial Hygiene (How to Spot Them and What to Do)

The course includes an overview of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene Code of Ethics, common ethical situations that IH professionals face, and practice ethical scenarios. At the end of this course the learner will be able to;
Explain the ethical elements of IH practice
Recall experiences relating to ethical dilemmas
Apply scientific findings to ethical practice
Implement ethical practice in real-world situations
Identify ethical failures

Ethics in Occupational Safety and Health Engineering
The course includes an overview of several codes of ethics for engineers, common ethical situations occupational safety and health engineers face, and practice ethical case studies.
At the end of this course, the learner will be able to;
Describe the fundamental ethical principles for Occupational Safety and Health Engineering.
Identify and assess ethical dilemmas encountered in Occupational Safety and Health Engineering.
Implement pertinent codes of conduct to enhance ethical behavior in the practice of Occupational Safety and Health Engineering.
Recognize ethical failures in the codes of conduct.
Explain how to avoid ethical failure in the practice of Occupational Safety and Health Engineering in your own words.
