The Systems Biology and Physiology Journal Club and Seminar brings outstanding speakers from the interdisciplinary fields of cardiovascular systems, metabolism and stress, signal transduction systems, epithelial biology, endocrine and reproduction biology, computational systems biology, and physiological genomics. The student is introduced to cutting-edge research in Systems Biology and Physiology and is exposed to a broad range of research topics.
In Journal Club, the student develops the skills required to critically review published work and discuss findings among peers. The Seminar Series comprises research seminars in biomedical science as well as state-of-the-art Clinical Physiology seminars in which clinicians more broadly discuss a major clinical challenge from the perspective of the underlying physiology. Beginning in the third year of study, each student presents his or her own work in the seminar series once a year.
