Program Evaluation

Program evaluation is a comprehensive, data-driven process that assesses the entire medical education experience, from matriculation to post-graduation outcomes. This process ensures that all aspects of the learning environment—including curriculum design, student support services, teaching effectiveness, and graduate preparedness—meet the highest standards of educational excellence and accreditation compliance.

Key Components of Program Evaluation:

  • Course and Clerkship Reviews: Regular assessments of individual courses and clinical experiences to ensure content relevance and teaching effectiveness.
  • Teaching Effectiveness: Evaluations of faculty performance and teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Phased Curriculum Reviews: In-depth reviews of each curriculum phase (pre-clinical, clinical, advanced) to ensure alignment with educational goals.
  • Whole Curriculum Review: A comprehensive evaluation of the entire medical education program to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Post-Graduation Outcome Analysis: Tracking residency placements, board performance, and long-term career outcomes to assess professional preparation.

The insights gained from these evaluations directly inform the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process, guiding data-driven enhancements that strengthen student learning and institutional effectiveness. Additionally, program evaluation plays a critical role in meeting LCME accreditation requirements, ensuring that the medical education program continuously evolves to meet the needs of students, faculty, and the healthcare profession.
