Conferences/ Lectures

Teaching conferences are scheduled Monday through Friday. All radiology residents are expected to attend weekly core curriculum conferences.

  • Noon Conference: The primary teaching conference, held daily from 12:15 to 1 p.m. and is a mandatory lecture. This conference series covers a variety of topics in addition to the principles of radiology including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Transgender imaging and care, personal finance, personal wellness and health, research, and health care disparities.
  • IR Conference: weekly education didactic conference covers a range of topics from basic principles of interventional radiology to advanced techniques and new technologies. The lectures are delivered by experienced IR attendings and provide an opportunity for residents to become comfortable with providing comprehensive IR care for complex clinical cases.
  • IR Interesting Case Conference: The weekly interesting case conferences are designed to showcase challenging and unusual cases encountered in interventional radiology. The aim is to encourage discussion, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among residents.
  • IR Morbidity, Mortality and Improvement Conference: The monthly Morbidity, Mortality & Improvement conference provides an opportunity for residents to review adverse events and complications encountered in interventional radiology procedures. The aim is to learn from these events and develop strategies for improving patient outcomes and reducing adverse events in the future.
  • Other AM Conferences: There are a variety of optional morning Fellow and Interdisciplinary conferences available for residents to take part in, both in person and virtually.
  • Journal Clubs: Regular journal club allows residents to discuss and review the latest published research in interventional radiology. The club provides an opportunity for residents to stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field and critically evaluate new research. Overall, the dedicated education conference provides a comprehensive and engaging educational experience for residents in the field of interventional radiology.
  • Physics: We have a Friday morning Physics conference taught by an outstanding physicist, Dr. Samuel Brady, at 8:00 AM, with residents excused from clinical duties during this time.
  • AIRP: All third-year residents in good academic standing are eligible to attend the four-week radiology/pathology course offered by the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology. The registration fee and a lump sum housing allowance are provided.
