Dr. Nicholas Newman is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC)
and core faculty in the Occupational/Environmental Medicine Residency program at the UC College of Medicine. Newman is a board-certified pediatrician and occupational/environmental medicine physician, and the Medical Director of the Environmental
Health and Lead Clinic at CCHMC, and a member of the Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit Network (PEHSU). Newman engages with local communities and manages patients impacted by environmental toxicants. As Leader of the CEC, Dr. Newman works
closely with CEG Director Susan M. Pinney, PhD, FACE; facilitates the connection between the PEHSU and the CEC, and collaborates in the development of targeted
educational materials for community members and health care professionals.
Dr. Michelle Burbage is an Assistant Professor of Public Health Sciences
at UC's College of Medicine. Burbage has worked on projects with the Ronald McDonald House, Urban Appalachian Council, YWCA's mammogram outreach program, and local schools and health departments. In 2018 Burbage received the prestigious Mirzayan Science
& Technology Policy Fellowship of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Burbage holds a Ph.D. in Health Education from UC with an emphasis in Behavioral Analysis. Her research is dedicated to improving the health and well-being
of children, adolescents, minorities, and other vulnerable populations. Her research agenda involves examining factors related to determinants of health, substance abuse, and mental health among these populations and how public health policies affect
health behaviors. She also has a strong interest in global health and seeks to examine current health initiatives worldwide as well as how individuals can overcome cultural barriers to healthy behaviors.
