About the Area Health Education Program

The Area Health Education Center /University of Cincinnati AHEC Program serves Region VI of the Ohio Statewide AHEC Program. The primary service area is comprised of Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland and Warren counties.

The AHEC Program is a multi-disciplinary project that seeks to improve the availability of healthcare professionals and improve access to quality health care in Ohio. 

This mission is addressed through educational interventions, academic and community partnerships, sharing resources of the University of Cincinnati and collaboration with other health-related agencies and institutions.

 

Health Promotion

The AHEC Program at the University of Cincinnati strive to positively impact the health of our fellow citizens. This is accomplished through collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health, other State and community-based agencies and organizations, and interested individuals.

Projects have covered a wide variety of topics and target populations. Programs have covered activities such as smoking cessation for pregnant women, bicycle safety, physical activity and fall prevention for older adults, women’s health, cardiovascular health, traffic safety, osteoporosis awareness & prevention, and special continuing education programs designed to assist health professional to address specific health concerns.
