Resident Wellness
The Department of Surgery is proud to support the health and wellness of our surgical residents through:
- Healthy food initiative (selected by surgical residents in surgery resident workspace, in addition to hospital-provided food)
- Wellness stipend – to support gym membership or other approved wellness activities
- Quarterly group fitness activities
- Jackson Hole retreat (Surgeons, Scholars & Leaders meeting) – annual event with rotating resident participation includes training in leadership, professional development, healthcare finance, as well as outdoor winter activities
- Semiannual class events – class advisors take their resident class on various events (examples have been paintball, bowling, cooking, and art classes)
- Professional sports tickets are available for residents
- Annual faculty-resident softball game and family picnic
- Visiting Professor dinner – residents routinely participate in dinner arrangements welcoming visiting professors
- Various other department-sponsored social events
- Free transport home post-call if needed
