Group Visit Training

The Group Visit program is an integrative medicine model of care that features patient care in a non-traditional format.

Whereas most traditional medical appointments feature 15-20 minutes of face-to-face time, group visits offer about 90 minutes of patient interaction with providers.

You will meet with a group with three goals in mind:

  1. Providing greater access to medical care visits
  2. Educating patients about their medical condition
  3. Honing self-management skills for lifestyle and behavioral change

UCHealth offers visits for Diabetes, Pregnancy, Parenting, Healthy Lifestyles and Weight Management, Chronic Pain, and Care and Recovery for pregnant mothers in recovery from opioid addiction. Each visit type meets on a monthly basis with varying cohorts.

Each session has a dedicated topic related to the medical conditions that address some issues that are associated with the disease.

Your patients will have their vitals taken, a pharmacist-led medication reconciliation, a short, directed individual check-up, followed by participation in the group.

You will be trained in group facilitation and act as a co-facilitator with the Attending Physician in the group. You will also conduct individual visits with the patients and participate in the group discussion.

The ultimate goal of the program is to empower patients and give them the tools that they need to successfully manage their medical condition. By empowering patients, they can take control and become partners in their own care.
