Research Opportunities

Our multiple clinical tracks and non-clinical pathways have allowed for more scholarly opportunities than ever for Med-Peds residents. In both IM and Peds, there is strong faculty mentorship with resident driven initiative to accomplish your research goals. Specific opportunities for scholarship include:

Medical Education Pathway: All MEP pathway residents complete a scholarly project that can be submitted as an abstract for poster or oral presentation, or for publication. Residents receive education scholarship methods mentorship from MEP leadership, as well as specific content mentorship from their identified faculty mentor. Pathway residents can also take the Medical Education elective, which includes protected time for project work.

IM Research Pathway: Residents in this pathway receive regular mentorship from IM faculty with advanced research methods training, and receive help connect residents with faculty members who are participating in research in their field of interest. There is also a research elective, which includes one or two month blocks of concentrated time for projects spanning residency.

ACP Ohio Regional Meeting: All Med-Peds residents submit a scholarly project to ACP Ohio for their 3rd or 4th year, as well as present a poster at medical grand rounds.

Med-Peds Residency Tracks: Both the acute care and primary care tracks help participating residents identify meaningful scholarly projects relevant to their future careers and establish faculty or fellow mentors.

Research electives: One or two month blocks of concentrated research elective time are available on both IM and Peds to help residents complete research projects.
