Student Mind-Body Skills Course
The UC Center for Integrative Health and Wellness specializes in mindfulness programs include mind-body skills training for students and faculty. Mind-body techniques are effective for improving stress, anxiety, depression and well-being across a wide range of populations (e.g., Saunders et al., 2007; Shapiro et al., 1998). Mind-body skills training includes:

Student Mind-Body Course
The Mind-Body Experiential Course (DOCx) aims to reduce stress and burnout and enhance mental and emotional well-being for students through mind-body skills training. Students learn adaptive stress management and practice evidence-based, mind-body techniques that emphasize healing, self care, awareness, and work-life balance.

The Mind-Body Skills course is offered at no cost to students, however space is limited. The only requirement is to complete the registration form and commit to attending every group meeting.
Students will learn various mind-body medicine techniques, practice them, and discuss their experiences with their small group. Students will have an opportunity for individual attention and instruction, as well as sharing what they are learning about mind-body medicine and about themselves.

Faculty Facilitator Mind-Body Skills Off-site Training Retreats
Adapted from a program implemented via the Institute for Integrative Health, Educating for Enhanced Self-Awareness and Self-Care: An Experiential Training in Mind-Body Medicine, faculty from UC are trained in mind-body skills by internationally-recognized experts to be able to lead student courses at their home institution.
During the immersive three-day retreat, participants practice mind-body approaches, such as meditation, journaling, biofeedback and yoga to realize the benefits (manage stress, foster well-being, among others) through personal experience. Lectures ground the practices in neuroscience and physiology, while experiential sessions demonstrate how to lead mind-body skills groups. Faculty leave with the necessary training, tools, materials, and strategic thinking to help them implement student courses.
Following the retreat, the Mind-Body Skills Program Coordinator supports faculty by aiding in student course scheduling, providing course materials and supplies, and convening monthly faculty connection meetings.
