Community Engagement Core

The Community Engagement Core (CEC) is a Core within the University of Cincinnati (UC) NIEHS- funded, Center for Environmental Genetics (CEG). 

The CEC has three aims:

  1. Translate and disseminate CEG research into environmental public health knowledge for our target audiences.
  2. Develop and facilitate bidirectional community-engaged research (CEnR) partnerships between CEG investigators and members of our target audiences in order to address identified environmental health issues, needs, and concerns. 
  3. Advance the field of community engagement in environmental health through implementing citizen science practices, novel communication approaches, and data disclosure. 

Our target audiences are: 

  • Community members (including teachers, students, and lay audiences)
  • Health care professionals
  • Policy makers
