MPH Practicum & Capstone Registration Requirements
Start Term: Fall 2019 – Present
PH 9010 Applied Practice Experience (Practicum) – 2 credits
PH 9020 Integrated Learning Experience (Choice of Capstone or Thesis) – 3 credits
Start Term: Fall 2017 – Summer 2019
Select one option:
- Capstone
- PH 8096 Capstone I – 3 credits
- PH 8097 Capstone I – 3 credits
- Thesis
- PH 8098 Thesis I – 3 credits
- PH8099 Thesis II – 3 credits
1. Completion of 50% of MPH Coursework
Students must complete 21 credit hours of MPH coursework before they can register for the following courses: PH-8090 (Practicum), PH-8096/PH-8097 (Capstone), PH-8098/PH-8099 (Thesis), PH-9010 (Applied Practice Experience), and PH-9020 (Integrated Learning Experience).
2. Attend Required MPH Seminars
All MPH students enrolled from Fall 2018 onward are required to attend 1 semester of required MPH seminars. Seminars occur live on Wednesdays 10-11:00 AM (EST), and are recorded to view later during Fall and Spring Semester. To receive credit for attendance, students must provide a 1-page summary of each required seminar and submit it to Professor Charles Doarn; doarnc@ucmail.uc.edu. Failure to attend MPH seminars and provide a 1-page summary for each will result in registration blocks.

3. Volunteer Service
All MPH students enrolled from Fall 2018 onward are required to complete 20 hours of volunteer service. Service activities must be public health related. Students can complete all 20 hours in one semester, or over multiple semesters. Students are required to e-mail documentation of their volunteer service hours directly to Professor Charles Doarn; doarnc@ucmail.uc.edu. Failure to complete the volunteer service requirement will result in registration blocks.

4. Attend End of Semester Practicum, Capstone, and Thesis Presentations
All MPH students enrolled from Fall 2018 onward are required to attend the end of the semester Practicum, Capstone, and Thesis presentations on the last Friday of the semester before finals week.
5. Course Registration
Permission to add PH-8090 (Practicum), PH-8096/PH-8097 (Capstone), PH-8098/PH-8099 (Thesis), PH-9010 (Applied Practice Experience), and PH-9020 (Integrated Learning Experience) to your course schedule in Catalyst must be granted by the instructor listed in Catalyst only after all the requirements listed above have been completed.
