PH 9010 Applied Practice Experience (Practicum) – 2 credits

Select one option:
1. Completion of 50% of MPH Coursework Students must complete 21 credit hours of MPH coursework before they can register for the following courses: PH-8090 (Practicum), PH-8096/PH-8097 (Capstone), PH-8098/PH-8099 (Thesis), PH-9010 (Applied Practice Experience), and PH-9020 (Integrated Learning Experience). 2. Attend Required MPH Seminars At the beginning of each new semester, MPH students will be notified of three date/subject options to attend a DEPHS live seminar given on Wednesdays from 10-11am (EST). Each MPH student will be required to attend ONE of these seminars in-person each semester and attendance will be recorded by the Program Manager until 10:05am. If a student cannot make it to the seminar by 10:05am, they will not be counted for the required attendance and can attend the next required seminar option date. If a student cannot attend any of the three options in a given semester, they are to watch one of the required seminar recordings and submit a summary, along with a reason for missing all dates, to the Program Director, Dr. Rachael Nolan (Rachael.Nolan@uc.edu) no later than the last dat of classes (see the semester calendar, dates, and deadlines calendar for that date). Failure to complete the seminar requirement will result in a registration block.

3. Volunteer Service All MPH students are required to complete 20 hours of volunteer service. Service activities must be public health related. Students can complete all 20 hours in one semester, or over multiple semesters. Students are required to e-mail the completed 'Volunteer Service Form' documenting their hours directly to the Program Manager, Emily Wagner (Emily.Wagner@uc.edu). Failure to complete the volunteer service requirement will result in a registration block. Volunteer Service Form (PDF) 4. Attend End of Semester Practicum, Capstone, and Thesis Presentations All MPH students enrolled from Fall 2018 onward are required to attend the end of the semester Practicum, Capstone, and Thesis presentations on the last Friday of the semester before finals week. 5. Course Registration Permission to add PH-8090 (Practicum), PH-8096/PH-8097 (Capstone), PH-8098/PH-8099 (Thesis), PH-9010 (Applied Practice Experience), and PH-9020 (Integrated Learning Experience) to your course schedule in Catalyst must be granted by the instructor listed in Catalyst only after all the requirements listed above have been completed.
