FAQs
Q: How are interns matched with sites?
A: When you apply, you rank the sites in order of your most desired placement. After reading the
applications, each of the sites individually ranks the interns whom they feel are the best fit for their
organization. Some sites conduct interviews during this process. Once we have all of the rankings, the
Co-Directors work on matching interns to sites.
Q: How many vacation days are we allowed?
A: The summer after the first year of medical school is 9 weeks long; of those 9 weeks, you are
expected to work 40 hours a week for 8 weeks. Thus, you are allowed 5 work days of vacation.
Q: Do I have to work on weekends?
A: Depending on the site, you may have to work a few weekend days. However, these days will
count towards your hours worked.
Q: What is the End of Summer Seminar and what does it entail?
A: The End of Summer Seminar is a way for the community to come and learn about each interns'
individual experience at their respective sites. Each intern makes a poster including information about
the site and their experience.
