Obstetrics and Gynecology

Curriculum/Schedule

The Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center is a fast-paced four years that meet a broad range of educational, vocational and social needs for the prospective candidate. These are provided in an environment of state-of-the-art care, supportive supervision and fellowship among the residents.

With its nationally renowned faculty, its two busy affiliated hospitals and its active part-time teaching faculty, the residency offers candidates the opportunity to graduate among the most well-educated, experienced and capable practitioners in the country.

The level of training and the national reputation of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and its faculty enhance opportunities for fellowship training following residency, both within the institution and nationally.

The curriculum consists of rotations in the ambulatory and hospital settings. The rotations are currently four weeks in duration with the exception of two that are three weeks in duration. Each resident receives four weeks of vacation taken in one-week increments throughout the academic year.

Our program is on a night float system all four years while rotating on Labor and Delivery and in third year the residents complete one night float rotation at our community hospital affiliate, The Christ Hospital.

In the third year, a resident may take a four-week elective during their benign gynecology rotation.

Several of our residents have completed electives at Mayo Clinic Cleveland for Urologic Gynecology, Memorial Sloan Kettering Galloway Fellowship for Gynecologic Oncology, overseas to Tanzania and MD Anderson Felix Rutledge Fellowship for Gynecologic Oncology.
