Welcome to the MSTP Program

Welcome to the Cincinnati Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), a multi-institutional MD/PhD program supported by the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

In 2016, the UC College of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics (run by Cincinnati Children's) was ranked No. 3 nationally, while Cincinnati Children's ranked No. 2 in pediatric gastroenterology and nephrology, and No. 3 in pediatric pulmonology, urology, orthopaedics and diabetes/endrocrinology by US News and World Report. Together, our two institutions provide outstanding opportunities for training tomorrow's leaders in academic medicine.

The mission of our program is to develop individuals who truly make a difference in patient outcomes through bench to bedside research. Students in our program receive personalized, longitudinal mentoring through our Senior Physician Scientist (SPS) Mentor Program from the beginning of their first year. SPS mentors help our students define long-term career goals and make decisions about everything from research rotations to residency programs. Our graduates consistently match at top residency and fellowship programs nationwide. MSTP alumni include department chairs, center directors, and faculty members at leading medical schools.

Interested applicants are encouraged to watch our MSTP Overview Video. The application deadline for the 2017 cycle is October 31, 2016. Learn more about admissions process here
