Finding Meaning in Medicine (FMM):
Started by Rachel Naomi Remen, MD Monthly meetings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at a host’s home centered around a preselected topic (i.e.: “Grief and loss”, “suffering”, “awe”, “astonishment”, “collaboration”, “forgiveness”, etc.). Participants share a story and can bring a piece of art, literature, or other object that connects them to the topic. Stories are shared in a safe listening environment – participants provide “generous listening” – open, nonjudgmental, supportive listening. Stories may or may not be related to medicine - stories are what the participant feels connects them to the topic.
