Dialysis Vascular Access Research Program - Education

Dialysis Access Teaching Module

Members of the Dialysis Vascular Access Research Group are developing a "Dialysis Access Module,” which will comprise ten 30 minute power point presentations that cover all the major areas of dialysis access care including Biology, Epidemiology, Basic Concepts, Advanced Concepts and “How I Do It Sessions.”

This will be the didactic core of a training program for renal fellows, which will be linked to rigorous hands on training in standard interventional procedures through the UC Health Vascular Access Center.

We are hopeful that this will lead to a future dedicated year long fellowship in interventional nephrology.

Cincinnati Hemodialysis Vascular Access Symposium

The Dialysis Vascular Access Research Group also organizes the “Cincinnati Hemodialysis Vascular Access Symposium” which is one of only four major national meetings in this field.

The last meeting in September 2010 (the eighth in this series) attracted over 325 participants from all over the United States and Canada, together with 25 speakers of national and international repute.

The next “Cincinnati Hemodialysis Vascular Access Symposium” is planned for March 2012. This will be in collaboration with Renal Networks.
