Our group of clinical endocrinologists has diverse training and broad expertise across the spectrum of endocrine disorders. We teach medical students, residents and subspecialists at the UC College of Medicine, and most of the endocrinologists in the Cincinnati region are graduates of our programs.
Investigators in the division have a worldwide reputation for their research of obesity and diabetes and their efforts to find treatment and preventive strategies for these conditions.
The UC Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism has practices in Clifton and in West Chester. These clinics provide care for the full range of endocrinology including diabetes, lipid disorders and diseases of the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, parathyroid and gonads.
Our group has particular experience with osteoporosis, and performs high-quality bone density studies to diagnose bone diseases. In addition, we manage patients with endocrine disorders related to organ transplantation, cystic fibrosis and bariatric surgery.
Physicians in the division work closely with surgical experts at UC Health to manage tumors of the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. Our practices include podiatric care, nurse specialists and diabetes educators to provide key components of diabetes management at a single site.
UC Health University Hospital has an inpatient diabetes management team to supervise treatment of abnormal blood glucose and provide patient education.
Research scientists and physicians in the division attract millions of dollars annually in research grants. They lead cutting-edge programs to study the causes of obesity and diabetes, the role of surgery to promote weight loss and the consequences of high blood glucose in hospitalized patients.
Clinical trials in the division focus on new treatments for diabetes and provide opportunities for physicians and patients to have access to the latest medications.
The UC Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is one of the most prominent programs at the College of Medicine and maintains a strong national reputation.
