Great Lakes OSHA Education Center

The University of Cincinnati is part of a national network of nonprofit organizations authorized by the United States Department of Labor OSHA to deliver occupational safety and health training to private and public sector workers, supervisors, and employers. The University of Cincinnati has been home to an authorized OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC), known as the Great Lakes OSHA Education Center for 25 + years. Annually the center trains approximately 1,700 occupational professionals under the Great Lakes consortium. The consortium was established in 2002 and includes the University of Cincinnati who serves as the lead organization, Eastern Michigan University, and the United Auto Workers International Union Health and Safety Department. A wide selection of health and safety training courses and educational programs are available through the center to help broaden worker and employer knowledge on the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, control, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces. In addition to offering over 50 OTI courses, the center provides a short course on trenching and excavation safety, silica dust, a Construction Health and Safety Technician examination preparatory course, and an Associate and Certified Safety Professional examination preparatory course.
