Community Engagement Core (CEC)

Our Mission

The CEC supports the mission of the Center for Environmental Genetics (NIEHS P30 ES006096) by fostering mutually beneficial relationships between CEG scientists and community members and by translating environmental health science into easily understandable and useable knowledge, tools, and resources.

LESSONS LEARNED ON THE ROAD TO ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP, a set of interactive educational modules that revisit three major environmental clean-up sites and convey strategies that community members and other stakeholders can use to better navigate what is often a very difficult, tension-filled, and long-term process. The Lessons Learned resource for concerned citizens and other stakeholders has been developed through collaborative efforts of the UC Center for Environmental Genetics, the University of Pennsylvania Center for Excellence in Environmental Toxicology, and the MIT Superfund Research Program Center.
