UC Diversity Interview Day
Dear Future MedCat,
Congratulations on your interview invitation to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine! You have been invited to interview at Cincinnati Medicine because you are a highly competitive applicant and we are eager to introduce you to all that Cincinnati has to offer you on your path to becoming a physician. The particular date on which you've been invited to attend will include our Diversity Interview Day program, a unique experience designed to showcase the supportive diversity and inclusion programs offered by Cincinnati's Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Your interview day check-in time can be found on your www.MedOneStop.uc.edu status page. You will not be able to check-in prior to your stated time. However, if you happen to arrive early please know that some of our current MedCats will be present to welcome you to Cincinnati Medicine while you wait for check-in.
Please refer to the invitation letter sent to you by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for your interview day details. Your interview day is NOT the same as a non-diversity interview day (as outlined on the www.med.uc.edu/medicalstudentadmissions webpage).
Confirming Your Interview
When you confirm your attendance via your MedOneStop page
, you are also confirming your attendance at the full Diversity Interview Day Program (ie, the evening before and the day of the interview). If you have any questions, please contact us at email@example.com .
Cincinnati Medicine uses the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). The MMI is a series of eight brief interview "stations" that are centered on a scenario. Each station has its own interviewer (rater); consequently, you will be evaluated by eight different individuals. MMI scenarios focus on issues such as communication, ethics, critical thinking, teamwork and personal attributes. Information regarding the MMI can be found online and through our MMI tab. You will hear about the MMI process during your Diversity Interview Day Program (i.e., night before your interview) and will also have an extensive presentation during your interview day prior to completing the MMI.
Interview Dress Tips
Applicants should dress in professional/business attire, which typically includes a suit coat. Due to the length and structure of the MMI, applicants will be standing for two minutes between each station and participating in a 45-minute walking tour, so shoes worn on your interview day should be comfortable.
Transportation From The Airport
Please see your interview letter for transportation options. If you are planning to fly into Greater Cincinnati/Northern-Kentucky International Airport (airport code: CVG), there are a variety of transportation options to get you to/from the Kingsgate Marriott from the airport*.
The trip from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to the hotel can take from 20 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. Considering rush hour traffic and the advance arrival time needed for security checks, you should allow at least 2-3 hours to arrive to the airport. You may also choose to fly into the Dayton International Airport; although the prices may be cheaper, the ~65 mile taxi ride to Cincinnati will be costly and will require more time to ensure a timely arrival for your flight.
For the entirety of the Diversity Interview Day program you should park in Kingsgate Conference Center garage located at 151 Goodman Drive Cincinnati, OH 45219. Your parking will be validated (free of charge). View Parking Map.
On the morning of your interview, you can either take the Kingsgate Marriott shuttle or walk to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine's CARE/Crawley Building. This is where your interview will take place. Seating on the Kingsgate Marriott shuttle is very limited; you will need to reserve your space once you arrive at the hotel. Alternatively, you may desire to walk the 0.2 miles from the Marriott to the CARE/Crawley Building. If so, click here to view walking directions from Kingsgate Marriott.
Your Overnight Stay
Your accommodations for your interview will be free of charge (i.e. courtesy of the Cincinnati Medicine Office of Diversity & Inclusion). The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will reserve your room and coordinate your stay at the Kingsgate Marriott.
