Department of

Anesthesiology

About the One Year Anesthesia Critical Care Fellowship

Two positions are available in the ACGME-accredited critical care fellowship in the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Critical care fellows are selected from an applicant pool of candidates currently meeting criteria for post-residency subspecialty training in anesthesiology or anticipated to meet criteria for subspecialty training prior to initiation of the fellowship. These criteria include satisfactory completion of an ACGME approved residency, eligibility for a license to practice medicine in Ohio and be eligible to take the ABA Critical Care exam.

About the Two Year American Board of Anesthesiology / American Board of Emergency Medicine Critical Care Fellowship

One position is available each year to start as a PGY-4 or PGY-5 in the two year ACGME-accredited fellowship in adult critical care with the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Critical care fellows are selected from an applicant pool of candidates currently meeting criteria for post-residency subspecialty training or anticipated to meet criteria for subspecialty training prior to initiation of the fellowship. These criteria include satisfactory completion of an ACGME approved four year emergency medicine residency, eligibility for a license to practice medicine in Ohio and be eligible to take the ABA Critical Care exam.

For Both Critical Care Fellowships

The applicants must meet all requirements and credentialing of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center GME office. Applicants must have achieved a passing score on USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX Step 3. The selection committee, which is composed of the anesthesiology critical care faculty, reviews applications from those candidates meeting these criteria and appropriate individuals are invited for interviews.

Applicants are interviewed by as many members of the full critical care faculty as possible and without exception by the program director. Applicants also have the opportunity to meet with the current critical care fellows in a less formal environment such as over lunch.
