Neuroscience Institute

Neurological diseases and disorders such as stroke, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease affect millions of families each year. Through the Neuroscience Institute, UC plans to serve as the national leader in understanding and treating neurological diseases such as these. The University of Cincinnati is positioned to have one of the few comprehensive neuroscience centers in the world. The foundation is already in place with UC's world-class programs in stroke, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease.

Creation of a Neuroscience Institute at the College of Medicine will focus on supporting four primary areas or neurological disease: cerebrovascular, neuro-oncology, brain trauma and functional neurology. The Institute will support each of these programs and provide funding to enable the College to attract top professionals and renowned leadership. The Medical Center's proposed Neuroscience Institute at the College of Medicine has a goal of $50 million. This amount will allow for the Institute to be housed within the newest and most up-to-date research facility in the tri-state region, as well as allow for creation of the Centers of Excellence covering each of the major areas of neurological disorders.
