Academic Support

  • The Expert Skills Program at Texas Tech is a professional skill development opportunity for all interested medical students from any institution. It provides effective tools for improving study skills in the medical curriculum. 

  • Webpath is a computer aided instructional resource that contains over 2,700 images with text that illustrate gross and microscopic pathologic findings along with radiologic imaging associated with human disease conditions.

  • Net Anatomy is designed to teach human anatomy to students of the health professions.

  • Hyperbrain, developed by the University of Utah School of Medicine, includes interactive neuroanatomy modules, movies and animation, quizzes and practical exams.
     
  • Quizlet is an online learning tool to create and use flashcards for free. 

  • Undergroundmed.net uses brief, practical, high yield videos to make medical education more accessible and understandable for students.
     


Career Counseling

  • Careers in Medicine is the premier site to assist medical students with career planning. Students must register using their AAMC (AMCAS) log-in.

  • National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) provides useful data on residency programs and applicants as well as match data. Students must register with NRMP during their fourth year when applying for residency programs. 

  • FREIDA Online, or Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database, is an online database of all graduate medical education programs in the United States that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, provided at no charge by the American Medical Association. 

  • ERAS, or the Electronic Residency Application Service, is a service that transmits applications, letters of recommendation, Medical Student Performance Evaluations, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from applicants and designated Dean’s Offices to program directors. 



Humanism in Medicine

  • Gold Humanism Honor Society honors medical students, residents, role-model physician teachers and other exemplars recognized for “demonstrated excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service."  

  • Academy for Professionalism in Health Care (APHC) is the organizational home for educators, administrators, scholars, and learners in medical ethics and medical humanities who strive to improve professionalism in all venues of health care.
