Medical Student Academic Support & Counseling

ADA Compliancy

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is dedicated to ensuring equal access to educational opportunities in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The College of Medicine may provide reasonable accommodations to students with a documented disability. Examples of reasonable accommodations include extended time on exams and limited distraction testing environments, although all reasonable requests will be considered.

Students at the College of Medicine should make the initial request for accommodations through the Office of Accessibility Resources. For the most expeditious assistance, the student is advised to adhere to the following procedures.

Procedures for Students Requesting Initial Eligibility for Accommodations under ADA

The assistant dean for academic support serves as the liaison to the Office of Accessibility Resources and is the primary contact for students at the College of Medicine for any questions or concerns related to ADA accommodations.

The assistant dean for academic support will also assist students with the process of requesting accommodations for the USMLE exams. However, it is important to note, the College of Medicine has no jurisdiction over determining eligibility for accommodations for the USMLE.

Policies and Procedures for Students with Disabilities, including guidelines for documentation, can be found on Medonestop. Tab to:  Other Resources, click on Student Handbook (PDF).
