Education Division
The division of education oversees the administration and educational aspects of the residency and fellowship training programs. Its responsibilities include recruitment, organizing educational and teaching conferences, assigning clinical rotations, evaluating resident performance and monitoring adherence to the 80-hour workweek.
The education steering committee, which serves as the division’s operational arm, comprises faculty members and resident representatives. The committee is charged with 1) ensuring adherence to all resident review committee requirements and guidelines and 2) assessing the quality of didactic teaching sessions and clinical training that the residents experience.
Educational programs focus on both basic and clinical neurosciences. Lecture series are established to review basic clinical neuroscience in preparation for the Inservice Board examination.
Conferences include Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality, Journal Club and Professors’ Hour. In addition, subspecialty conferences are held for spine, tumor, epilepsy, movement disorders and vascular.
The division also oversees resident scholarly activities. It guides and mentors residents during the research rotation in PGY-5.
