Year one curriculum focuses on the normal structure, function and development of the human body. Classes include:
Clinical Skills 101 is the first segment of a two year longitudinal curriculum with an educational mission of imparting to each medical student the fundamental patient centered skills important in health and disease as the basis of safe and effective patient care.
The Physician and Society course serves as an introduction to medical school and the medical profession, exploring basic concepts regarding the exercise of medicine that go beyond the basic science but directly influence the quality of patient care.
Clinical Reasoning I is a yearlong longitudinal course designed to teach students clinical reasoning which will serve as the foundation for their clinical course work.The Fundamentals of Medical Science block will prepare students for the organ blocks to follow. The description of events, structures, and concepts, which are common to all organ blocks, will be described within Fundamentals.
The course contains didactic and interactive instruction in (1) aspects of normal structure and function as well as diseases of the endocrine/reproductive systems. The course will cover the normal histology, embryology and function integrated with a consideration of endocrine/reproductive abnormalities and appropriate therapy for related conditions;
The IPEx track will facilitate medical students understanding of the complexities of the relationships between their profession and others.
Clinical Skills 102 is the second segment of a two year longitudinal curriculum with an educational mission of imparting to each medical student the fundamental patient centered skills important in health and disease as the basis of safe and effective patient care.

The Longitudinal Primary Care Clinical Experience spans the first two years of medical school. The first segment of the LPCC curriculum begins in the latter half of the first year. Students are paired with a primary care physician and will learn in the preceptor’s ambulatory office. Sessions will focus on learning the clinical method.
The Musculoskeletal-Integumentary block provides a foundation in the normal structure and function of the integumentary and musculoskeletal systems, as well as an introduction to clinical conditions related to these systems.
The Human Growth and Development block introduces critical aspects of the human biological and developmental sequence. This block includes the basic principles and theories of normal human development from conception to older adulthood.
