Mission/History

The UC Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute pursues a mission to provide optimal and affordable care to patients with complex diseases, disorders and conditions affecting the heart, lungs and vascular system. We are committed to: educating and training clinicians and scientists who will become future leaders, conducting cutting-edge basic science, translational and clinical research and establishing a “learning hospital” environment that assures quality, safety and reliability to each patient under our care.

We believe strongly that these governing tenets will foster the translation of scientific and clinical discoveries to patient care, support growth, development and success of our clinicians and scientists, synergize with the health system, colleges and schools of the University of Cincinnati to achieve patient-centered excellence and improve our local community through contributions to health care, education and the economy.
