Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute

Overview

The UC Heart, Lung & Vascular Institute, as part of the only Academic Health Center in the Cincinnati area, excels not only in cardiovascular & pulmonary care, but in basic science, translational and clinical research & training.

In the areas of cardiovascular and pulmonary research and care, we are nationally known for our discoveries and contributions – but most importantly, we translate our insights into real treatments that help our patients every day.

A uniquely collaborative team

We’re part of the UC Academic Health Center, which means our expert team is uniquely collaborative. Our physicians, researchers and educators work side-by-side, sharing knowledge and insights across the traditional boundaries of their disciplines. We don’t just stay up to date on the latest in cardiovascular and pulmonary research and care – we help to discover it, which means our patients benefit from some of the most advanced treatment options available. In addition, our knowledge and experience are used for decision-making and patient-specific care.

Experienced in treating even the most complex heart conditions

At the UC Heart, Lung & Vascular Institute, we investigate and treat a wide range of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, from more common conditions like coronary artery disease to rare syndromes like Eisenmenger’s or long QT. With our physicians’ vast clinical experience and our researchers’ knowledge of emerging science, we can match patients with the treatment option that best meets their unique needs, whether that is a standard procedure, complex operation requiring advanced technology and training or opportunity to participate in a clinical trial to unlock doors for new treatments. Educating and training for the future

The UC Heart, Lung & Vascular Institute is part of the UC College of Medicine, where students, residents and fellows are trained. Not only are physicians and researchers working together to treat heart, lung and vascular disease, they’re training the next generation of physicians and scientists who will be making further discoveries and treating the patients of tomorrow. Most of all…we’re known for our patient-centered approach.

In our halls are nationally recognized physicians and experts in the fields of cardiology, pulmonary and vascular medicine, highly skilled and compassionate nurses, thought leaders pioneering important clinical trials, and so many more. Regardless of their role, all of them are devoted to one thing – developing and delivering the best possible treatment options so our patients can return to optimum health as quickly as possible.
