1. TB Testing

When do the trainees need to complete their Annual TB Testing?

Annual TB Testing is completed in the month of May.  Each year the residents and fellows must have TB Testing conducted. The GME Office will send out a notice to the Program Directors and Coordinators with dates, times, and place the resident or fellow can go.

 What if a trainee had a Positive TB Test in the past?

The resident or fellow must complete the TB Test Form indicating the date they tested Positive and present the results of their most recent Chest X-Ray.  The resident or fellow may need to have a current Chest X-Ray completed based on the date and results of the last X-Ray.

2. Evaluations

How often should the program director evaluate the trainees?

The program director must evaluate the residents and/or fellows at least semi-annually (twice a year). The Office of GME suggests conducting the evaluations in October and April.

Must a trainee attend the meeting where the faculty and program director
discuss the educational effectiveness, goals and objectives, and resident/fellow issues?
  

Yes, a resident or fellow must attend the meeting where the educational effectiveness, goals and objectives, and resident/fellow issues are discussed with the faculty and program director.  The program director cannot only meet with the residents or fellows and relay the minutes from that meeting to the faculty.

3. Payroll

When do the trainees get paid?

Residents and fellows are paid by UC Health every two weeks.

How does the trainee receive/view their paycheck?

All UC Health employees are required to have Direct Deposit. The resident/fellow may view their paycheck stub on-line at ePayroll

What are the UC Health Holidays? 

UC Health observes the following Holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day.  The Program determines if the trainee has to work the holiday.

4. Leaves of Absence

Does a resident or fellow receive funeral days?

Yes, all UC Health associates receive up to 3 days of paid funeral leave for the immediate family within a seven day calendar day.  The following family members qualify as immediate family: your parent, foster parent, parent-in-law, parent of domestic partner*, sister, brother, child of associate, child of spouse or domestic partner*, grandparent or grandchild.  (*Domestic partner benefit only applies if the associate completed a Declaration of Domestic Partnership prior to the death of the domestic partner or the domestic partner's family member.)

Does the program need to notify the Office of GME when a trainee
takes a leave of absence?

Yes, the resident or fellow needs to complete a GME Leave of Absence form located on the Forms page.  This form must be completed by the resident or fellow, signed by the Program director and then sent to the Office of GME for Dr. Filak's signature.

Also, as a UC Health Associate, each resident or fellow must complete the appropriate Benefits Leave of Absence paperwork as well. Check the hospital Intranet for that form, or call 585-6060.

In addition to the above, the Leave of Absence MUST be entered into MedHub by the Resident/Fellow's Program Coordinator.

5. Malpractice Insurance

Who do I need to contact  to obtain Proof of Malpractice Insurance?

Please contact the Risk Management Department in order to receive a copy of your Proof of Malpractice Insurance at 584-5042.

6.  Benefits - All

7. Rotators to University Hospital

What needs to be completed in order to have a resident rotate to University Hospital?
