Combined/Dual Degrees at the College of Medicine

The UC College of Medicine affords students the opporunity to earn two degrees at once. These combined or dual degrees are as follows:

MD/PhD (Physician-Scientist Training Program)

Georg Weber, MD, PhDPhysician-scientists are a remarkably successful group of individuals, comprising only 2.5 percent of medical school graduates, yet holding half of all NIH grants to physicians. MD/PhD students at UC typically complete their first two years of medical school and then shift their study to graduate school training in one of the College of Medicine graduate programs. Upon successful completion of a PhD thesis, students then return to medical school and complete their final two years of clinical training.
