The Ashlyn Fund was started by Rob and Andrea Pfister with the help of the University of Cincinnati Foundation for the purpose of raising awareness among the general public and in the medical community to the importance of "tight control" of blood sugar as it relates to pregnancy. Rob's and Andrea's daughter Ashlyn Ellen was still born on March 9, 1998 because of maternal diabetes mellitus.
