Helping Our Students Travel (HOST)

The HOST program will match medical alumni from across the country with fourth-year students traveling for their residency interviews in the months of October, November, December and January.

The HOST program is available in ten cities where our students interview the most – Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, Houston, Denver, Ann Arbor, Raleigh-Durham and New York.  If you live in or near one of these cities please consider serving as a host.  As an alumni host, the experiences and mentoring you can share with our students is invaluable.  It’s also the perfect way to stay connected with UC and the College of Medicine even though you may live far away from Cincinnati.

The cost of traveling to residency interview across the country can become very expensive for the medical students.  To help lessen the financial burden, alumni HOST volunteers are asked to open their homes to a student (and possibly a spouse or another classmate) for an overnight stay. Not only is this a great way for students to defray some of their residency travel expenses, but alumni have the opportunity to hear about some of the exciting happenings taking place at UC.
